Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky (TMMK) - Scott County, Georgetown, KY

Project Description

Palmer Engineering, as a subconsultant to SSOE, has completed the following Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky (TMMK) projects:

Weld Expansion Phase 2 - Palmer Engineering provided the Civil Engineering services working with SSOE staff for the 117,348 SF Weld Phase 2 Building. The expansion included survey, extensive utility demolition/relocation, truck well, stormwater management analysis, local permitting, corridor grading/drainage, erosion control, and discipline coordination with SSOE staff. The project required detailed site grading to allow stormwater to drain in narrow area between proposed and existing buildings.

Bumper Paint Facility - Palmer Engineering provided the Civil Engineering services working with SSOE staff for the 108,000 SF Bumper Paint Expansion. The expansion included survey, site utilities, roadway, storm water management analysis, local permitting, truck dock, grading/drainage, erosion control, and discipline coordination with SSOE staff. The truck maneuvers had to be modeled to ensure the existing truck dock was not impacted.

East Parking Expansion - Palmer Engineering provided the Civil Engineering services for the design and expansion of the Toyota main parking area to accommodate future lost parking spaces and growth. The project included revising outer Ring Road, the addition of drop gates, traffic flow coordination, traffic studies, traffic route analysis, survey, construction phase planning, 619 additional parking spaces, utilities, grading, paving, geometrics, erosion control, landscaping, and permitting.

Container Yard - The project included a new Gate 21 building with relocated canopies from the existing Gate 21 along with 42 acres of container yard storage, survey, storm sewer system, erosion control, coordination with Ring Road adjacent ditch, erosion control, utilities, stormwater recharge / bio-retention pond, permitting, and SSOE coordination. The addition of the trailer storage area required the modification of the FTZ fence.

Lexus Expansion - Project included the expansion of Lexus Assembly building by four bays to accommodate additional production. The project included rerouting of storm sewer and fire protection lines and grading modification to promote positive drainage. Responsibilities included in Palmer’s scope of work included, preparation of the construction drawings; coordination with structural, architectural, electrical, mechanical, and fire protection disciplines; preparation and submittal of Final Development Plan; construction coordination and shop drawing review.

Paint Reborn - Palmer led civil engineering services of the construction on a new 700,000 square foot Paint building at the existing plant. A road relocation was completed ahead of the building construction so that the existing plant remained operational during the building construction. This package brought all of the remaining utilities to the building and included all the paving to the face of the building. Project duties included utility layout, construction coordination, QAQC, and permit applications, submittal and approvals.
