Ferrero-Chocolate Factory Expansion and Kinder Bueno Expansion
Chocolate Factory Expansion – 2021-23
Palmer Engineering provided civil engineering for an expansion to the existing Ferrero chocolate plant in Bloomington, Illinois. The expansion consisted of 77,800 SF of new production and office. Prepared civil construction plans for proposed site improvements including new access drives around the expansion added parking to the existing parking lot, and new truck docks. Expansion of the existing storm detention pond was required for the added pavement and building space. Provided new water, sanitary, sewer, industrial waste lines, and gas lines to this new building. Provide utilities to be available for future expansions. Submitted plans for submittal to the City of Bloomington Zoning Board of Appeals Site Plan submittal and City Council approval. Coordinated with local city and state official on obtaining all site permits necessary to commence construction. Provided construction coordination assistance including multiple change orders requested by the owner.
Kinder Bueno Expansion – 2022-24
Palmer Engineering provided civil engineering for an expansion to the existing Ferrero chocolate plant in Bloomington, Illinois. The expansion consisted of 120,800 SF of new production and office for the Kinder Bueno chocolate line. Prepared civil construction plans for proposed site improvements including new access drive around the expansion, new truck docks, and new utility access ways. Verified the existing storm detention pond expanded for the Chocolate Factory expansion has enough capacity for the new expansion. Extended water, sanitary, sewer, industrial waste lines, and gas lines to this new building. Submitted plans Illinois EPA for stormwater permits and sanitary sewer extension in coordination with the owner. Coordinated with local city and state official on obtaining all other site permits necessary to commence construction. Provided construction coordination assistance including multiple change orders requested by the owner.
